I am writing this letter to the editor with a two-fold purpose. Number one, to let people in the community know that complementary medicines are alive and well and really do work. Number two, to thank Dr. Thomas Lee for nine years of good health and wellness.
I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, CLL, in 1999. On February 11th, 2000, I was introduced to Dr. Thomas Lee of 424 White Spruce Blvd in Rochester, N Y. I could not understand how acupuncture would possibly help my situation. He explained to me that boosting my immune system would , hopefully, help me body heal itself. Also, acupuncture would give more energy and allow me to remain healthy and strong. Dr. explained that should I have to have chemotherapy at any given time, the acupuncture would enhance that therapy as well. People who have had traditional treatments for cancer or other illness find that the period of remission can sometimes be extended through the efforts of a skilled clinician such as Dr. Lee.
I work a full time job, take care of a home and family, am active in my community and feel great. My lab values are always within a reasonable range and I have yet to have any traditional cancer treatment. I continue to see my Oncologist on a regular basis and have my lab work done as scheduled. I would not consider giving up either of my choice s for wellness. I just wanted to share with you that complimentary medicine is a choices that has certainly worked for me. I presumed the well being treatments were effective, but the single treatment you gave me for relief of my chest pain was spectacularly effective. Dear Dr. Lee: It was been exactly 2 months since my back pain went away. I have waited this long before writing, because frankly after years of chronic pain I have expected to be down on my back again. You told me that my back problems were over and every day I am free of pain I believe more and more that you are correct. Starting thirteen years ago I first came to you with a long standing history of severe migraine headaches that was not relieved with traditional medical therapy or medical drug therapy. After service of acupuncture treatments I have been headache free ever since. Nine years ago I developed upper respiratory (runny nose, sneezing) seasonal allergies. I consulted an allergist and advised to take antihistamines, steroids and receive desensitization injections, Not working to subject myself to all of this, I decided to make see you and receive acupuncture treatments fro my allergies. INFERTILITY
October 1991,-Baby Girl in June 1992, Dear Dr. Lee, December 11 1993, (Dr. Thomas Koangho Lee's the most experience method of acupuncture treatment), Dear Dr. Lee, I apologize for the delay in getting this letter to you. As you can see, we were blessed with a healthy baby girl in June of 1992. I would like to thank you for your assistance and to offer my deepest appreciation in helping me with the problem of infertility. Our lives seem to be filed with so many changes and adjustments that time as become a real commodity on my part. Therefore, finding a quiet moment to write you was one of those takes that got put on the back burner. There is another reason why I wanted to write you. I wanted to share of the experiences I had with infertility with others like myself, who could possibly be helped by your treatments. I realize there are numerous women who can empathize, share frustrations and disappointments concerning this problem. I wanted to let them know that I definitely advocate acupuncture as alternative method, if at all possible, determining the extent of the problem. When I started my treatments in October of 1991, you treated me for lazy organs being the ovaries. ( I was scheduled for 12 treatments but it took only 6 before I became pregnant ). I realized there would be no sure guarantees, but I was willing to give it a try, since the numerous specialists that I was seeing could not explain why I was not able to conceive. In Addison, I was not getting any younger, since I was 37 years old when I delivered. During the 5 years that I dealt with my INFERTILITY, I undergone several preliminary tests to determine if there were any obstructions, but none were found. Had (2) dilation curettage (D & C ) and (2) laparotomy, developed an ovarian cyst, had laser surgery to remove endometriosis which caused abdominal and back pain during my menstrual cycle with heavy bleeding and numerous sonograms twice a month to determine if my ovaries were producing follicles, took clomid once a month for 3 years to try to produce a healthy follicle, received HCG each month to release the follicle if it was matured enough, each month took progesterone suppositories to ensure that if I did conceive I would be able to hold the fetus, took basal temperature each day, and the endless visits to the physician each month to coordinate the progress of each cycle. In September of 1991, I was referred to another specialist and made appointment in November. While driving to work one day, The thought of seeing an acupuncturist came into mind, so I inquired and phoned you right away to make an appointment. I really felt that this would be two of my last attempts in trying for a child. Since there was a limit to how much stress and disappointment I could stand, I needed to set my limitations and "continue with the living". I say "continue with the living "because allot of the times, I felt this endless void inside me, due to the emotional and physical draining dealing with INFERTILITY. Needless to say, I did not have to keep my appointment with the other specialist. I feel my fortunate and blessed to be able to write this letter. Our daughter has given my husband and myself the greatest pleasure in life. We are like most parents...tired...but emotionally and spiritually fulfilled with love for her.
